Canoe and Kayak Trips

The Shuswap is a beautiful clear water river flowing out of the Monashees into Sugar Lake where it warms up considerably before continuing on its way to Mable Lake.
We mostly paddle the upper river from Sugar Lake to Wilsey Dam but will also paddle Cook Creek to Enderby for the less experienced.

We have six different river trips in our itinerary and will suit the trip to your paddling ability.

From easy class 1 to bring your Ye-Haw (class 3).

We paddle from March through November with approx. a month off in High Water Season. If it's snowing - I ain't going!

Full body wetsuits are provided for shoulder season days. We use ‘Old Town' canoes and day trip kayaks, paddles and life vests are provided. All prices are per person and half hour orientation is included.

Trip 1

River road to Wilsey Dam 4 hours, some class 2.We paddle through a beautiful river valley with a few bouncy chutes just to make it fun and enjoy the many fabulous opportunities to pull
out and discover the shore and have a beverage and tasty lunch. Mandatory easy portage around a class 5 fall and rapids. Good swimming holes, the same Bonzai Canyon as trip 2.

Trip 2

Meadows to Wilsey Dam 7 hours, class2 with some log obstructions, sweepers and rapids. Mandatory portage (10 min. easy) around a class 5 fall and rapids. At the end of the portage one of the finest swimming holes on the Shuswap where we often practice our rescue technique followed by a hardy delicious lunch. There are some nice bouncy class 2 rapids flowing into a Bonzai Canyon where gently flowing water , rock ,moss and tree meet in perfect harmony. One of the most beautiful spots in North America and a fine opportunity to have a snack and a beverage while savoring this amazing jewel of nature.

TRIP 3

The whole shooting match. Upper river to Wilsey Dam 8 hours, some class 3. One mandatory portage. Experienced only! Same as 1-2-3 lunch, snacks and beverages included.

TRIP 4

Cook Creek to Ashton Creek , 5 hours, class 1 to 2 , some moving water maneuvering required, a few easy chutes. We paddle through a most scenic valley among farmland and forests with beautiful pullout spots for a picnic and swimming and enjoy the wildlife and the many different bird species. A trip which you won't forget. An ideal trip for family and friends.

TRIP 5

Ashton Creek to Endery .This 5 hour trip is ideal for a relaxed playful day ,the perfect opportunity to take your little kids along and make it a family day or just gently float along through beautiful nature. Enjoy the many fantastic swimming holes and watch trout and salmon (season permitting) beneath your canoe. There are many wonderful spots to have a delicious lunch, snacks and beverages.

Price: CAD $150 plus tax per person
